MONDAY MAY 24th

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Clive Burton, our trombone maestro, suffered a heart attack early on Sunday Morning. He is now in the Cardiac Care Unit of the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.

I have had a quick phone conversation with Jan, and he is OK, but obviously these are early days still.

We all of course wish him the speediest of recoveries, and look forward again to the day when he can lead the chant "At The Hedsor Social Club".

Our regular Thursday Night Jazz sessions there will carry on whilst we await his return. Alongside Al Nicholls our guest this week on tenor saxophone, will be another brass player from Reading, trumpeter Stuart Henderson.

In my last blog, I commenting on the "Return of the X Factor", with Vasilis and Michael L Roberts. Clive was his usual self, and the evening was a tremendous success.

He took a little time off after that (to complete his Community Service!), and I know that we were all looking forward to his return and his jokes!

He will be back, but our wait might be a little longer. In the meantime, we wish him a speedy recovery.

Geoff C
