This Week at Hedsor Jazz:-

we have another session with our regular band, The Clive Burton Quintet, and again, for the second of his 3 weeks with us, we have Mike Jeffries as our drummer.

Mike, with his now replaced, 1970's drum kit.

Do come along, especially this week, and support live jazz.

I appreciate that you may also be going out on Saturday to support an Evening of Ineluctability in Cookham, (see earlier blog) but I can assure you that this Thursday there will also be a worthy celebration! I can say no more, my lips a sealed! (No NOT SWALK!! I should be so lucky), BUT one of our number has achieved a milestone, and celebrations there will be!

The following Thursday, January 29th, we have coming to us one of our most popular guest musicians, Vasilis Xenopoulos. A master of the instrument, having qualified as such from Berkley Collage of Music in Boston, Mass. Do check out their web site:-

Vasilis was last at Hedsor with his new band “Wind Machine” in August 2014. This time he will become part of the Clive Burton Quintet just for the evening.

Vasilis alongside Clive on another occasion.

Don’t forget Hedsor Jazz is every Thursday, and except on our Gala nights, the music starts at 8.30 pm in The Hedsor Social Club, Hedsor Road, Bourne End, Bucks. SL8 5ES.

Come and join us, tell your friends!!

Aim for the telephone box, you cant have the door, someone else had more accurate aim!!

Good Morning Jazz Fans

This week at Hedsor Jazz we have again our regular Clive Burton Quintet, but this week with guest drummer Mike Jeffreys in place of Martin Hart.

It was good to get back to our regular weekly jazz sessions last week after one of the longest gaps in our (now) 13 year history of Jazz at the Hedsor Social Club. We are so used to jazz EVERY week, that the 2 Thursdays without our regular live music fix, caused by Christmas Day and New Years Day being on a Thursday this year, meant our ears were feeling in need of a little jazz refreshment!

BUT, until the days coincide like that again, we will be with you EVERY WEEK from now on. And we have some exciting NEWS! Greek saxophonist Vasilis Xenopoulos will be with us on January 29th!! See poster artwork below. Please print and put up in a (legal) public place to encourage newcomers!!

Vasilis will also be appearing at Woodley with our regular drummer Martin Hart on February 7th

If you are free on Saturday January 24th then a slightly more traditional jazz evening could be yours. Every year Cookham's own home grown trad band play an evening of Ineluctability ( go on, look it up!) in The Pinder Hall at Cookham. This year of 2015 is no exception, and tickets  are available from Cookham Hardware and Country Stoves

This is always an entertaining evening, and Hedsor Jazz Fans who come MAY be surprised at who they see playing!! Oh, and by the way, on some numbers you will be able to sing along as well!!

So wherever you go don't forget, to keep live jazz alive, we need an audience!!
